If you haven’t been living under a rock then you probably have heard by now of 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher.
Well, I read the book (and have started the series) and luckily I got the last one in the store I bought it from. So, as we know, it follows Clay Jensen as he listen to a series of tapes made by his dead classmate, Hannah Baker.
Now, in the book (please read the book too), he listens to them all in one night. In the one night, his thoughts on classmates, places and heck his town all change because of Hannah’s words. He meets some of those on the tapes before his tape. He and you go on quite the roller coaster and I want to give him a big hug by the end and I can only imagine the emotions the cast went through as well.
There has of course been controversy about the series and I can’t compare until I watched all the episodes but the book does the job of it being reasons not blame. Hannah always makes it clear the events she described all led to the decision to take her own life. It also ties it all together well and makes it clear that what you do to others, impacts them.
PLEASE remember, you are loved and you are worthy of love, kindness and respect. Please confide in someone about your feelings.
I’m going to leave it on that note and until next time,
